Donna Marie George was born in NYC and lived most of her life in Northeastern New Jersey until making Cleveland, OH her home. She has been married to her husband for over 30 years and has three grown children. She loves animals especially Alaskan Malamutes and Golden Retrievers.
She is the author of her debut book, The Hidden Queen of Hy-Breasail, a young adult magical realism novel. Donna Marie is a blogger and inspirational influencer for thewoundedheart – a life’s journey filled with blessings.

h carty rated it on Goodreads it was amazing · I don’t usually read fantasy novels but as I’d thoroughly enjoyed the Harry Potter series I decided to throw myself out of my comfort zone and read this just published first novel by Donna Marie George . I’m glad I did. I was drawn into the world of Maeve, Shae and Liam and the mystical land of Hy Breasail. I wasn’t expecting the strong Irish mythological & language content but it enriched the story. I’m expecting a sequel & possibly a film… I’ve recommended to my 14 year old niece. I think it will appeal and it can be hard to find suitable reading which will fire the imagination and make the world a little more magical!

There were many characters introduced with Irish names and it was helpful to find the clans listed at the back of the book. I was intrigued by the characters and the land of Hy-Bresail. The author draws you into this fantasy and brings the characters to life. As someone who never read a fantasy novel, I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book and hope there is a sequel! I would highly recommend.

She ends up going way sooner than planned and the excitement revs up even more. Put your seatbelt on, though, between all of the various characters from Hy-Breasail and Rowan where Maeve lives with her mom and dad and 3 sisters, your head will spin trying to keep up! Definitely looking forward to the next adventure in this Rowan/Hy-Breasail series!
