The Fog

As I was driving to my daughter’s school, I felt this strong urge to write.  Yet, I had no earthly clue what to write about.   Seconds later, the song, “I See the Light”from the movie,  Tangled, started playing on the radio.  It was like I heard the song for the first time even though I live in a total Disney house – movies, music, clothing, figurines, etc.  Why after five years, did I really hear the song?

The lyrics hit my heart like an arrow from Cupid.  I became overwhelmed with emotion.  If my daughter was in the car, she would have probably laughed at me for tearing up over a Disney song.  What am I saying?  There’s no probably….she would have laughed.   I had been living and walking in a fog for many, many years.  The light of the Lord was dimmed to not more than a flicker.  This song was about me.  It was my truth.

God spoke to me that day through the words in a Disney song.  It was not emotion from just hearing a song on the radio – although I’m known to cry listening to music.  God was acknowledging that he was aware of the shift in my relationship with Him.  He allowed this song to touch me so deeply that I felt like I was Rapunzel and/or Flynn Ryder singing to the Lord.  When the song ended, I was instantly reminded of a Bible quote in John 8:12:

“I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

Like everyone else, my life is filled with challenges, trials and tribulations; but, by trusting in the Lord, I am able to walk in His light.

“I See the Light”

All those days watching from the windows

All those years outside looking in

All the time never even knowing

Just how blind I’ve been

Now I’m here, blinking in the starlight

Now I’m here, suddenly I see

Standing here, it’s all so clear

I’m where I’m meant to be

And at last I see the light

And it’s like the fog has lifted

And at last I see the light

And it’s like the sky is new

And it’s warm and real and bright

And the world has somehow shifted

All at once everything looks different

Now that I see you

All those days chasing down a daydream

All those years living in a blur

All that time never truly seeing

Things, the way they were

Now she’s here, shining in the starlight

Now she’s here, suddenly I know

If she’s here it’s crystal clear

I’m where I’m meant to go

And at last I see the light

And it’s like the fog has lifted

And at last I see the light

And it’s like the sky is new

And it’s warm and real and bright

And the world has somehow shifted

All at once, everything looks different

Now that I see you

Now that I see you…
