Seasons of Life

Many memories from seasons’ past have resurfaced recently.  Memories of my idyllic childhood.  Memories of my young adult life with my husband, friends and family.  Memories of my role as mom, wife, and caregiver.  These memories and experiences have made me who I am today.  Who is that you ask?  What “I am” is my answer.

Metaphorically, I am a tree.  My roots are strongly grounded in my ancestors’ strength.  My trunk is the foundation of my parents’ and husband’s love.  My branches are my children.  My bark is weathered yet filled with life.  My leaves have grown and shed many seasons.  Seasons experienced yet filled with blessings have endured.

In this new season, I will experience peace and contentment as I watch my tree grow and the roots of my ancestors pass down from its branches.  To these branches and future seedlings, I extend love, happiness and many blessings.  I  wish them many wonderful memories so that their “tree” too shall be blessed as mine has been.

 “Nature gives to every time and season some beauties of its own;

and from morning to night, as from the cradle to the grave,

it is but a succession of changes so gentle and easy that we can scarcely mark their progress.”

Charles Dickens
