New Beginnings

We all have our cross to bear, the thorn in our side, or any other metaphor that you may deem appropriate.  The year of 2016 was plagued with multitudes of adversity for me, my friends, my family, my country and “my world”.  This adversity led to  isolation, sadness, anger, disappointment, as well as, an array of other feelings and emotions.  Some allowed the adversity to overtake “normal” day-to-day functionality.  This is when I realized that “in my world”, the New Year resolution would not longer exist.

In years’ past, my resolution was null and void by the end of January.  If it was not, it was an absolute miracle.  Let me be honest.  I was never going to stop cursing or eating ice cream or any of the other ridiculous resolutions I came up with.  Not going to happen.  So why make a resolution?  Resolutions should be a vow of betterment. Better yet.  Resolutions should be obsolete.  Each year, each week, each day should be a “new beginning”.

The year of 2016 was one of my toughest.  I suffered the loss of my father, a concussion, post-concussion syndrome and months of physical, mental and spiritual adversity.  I did not have to go it alone.  I am blessed with a supportive network of family (some not related by blood) that helped me through this time of growth, sadness, frustration, grief, isolation, judgment and blessings.  I learned that some friendships will dissolve and others bloom.  Yet, I realized that with each day came a “new beginning”.

New beginnings should start with the intention of letting go of yesterday.  New beginnings can begin on any day and at any time.  My new beginning began by embracing a “new” healthy physical, mental and spiritual body.  It began with thankfulness for a loving family and wonderful friends.  It began with thankfulness for the knowledge obtained through the alternative world of medicine, exercise, and spirituality.  It began with thankfulness for my God and his unending love.

My wish for you is a life filled with many blessings and endless new beginnings!

“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.”
